Dr. Katherine L. Johnson’s path to dentistry likely began in her Bishop McGuinness High School art class, where she discovered a joy and talent for creating ceramics. By her first year at the University of Oklahoma, she knew that working in medicine and raising a family were among her goals. After some careful consideration and observing in Dr. Mary Casey Kelly’s office, Katherine made up her mind to pursue a career in dentistry.
Katherine earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 and went on to Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. She graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2003. In 2006, Katherine returned home to Oklahoma City and partnered with Mary, forming CJ Dental. They built a brand new, state-of-the-art dental studio in northwest Oklahoma City, across from Classen Curve.
Katherine has attended the Pankey Institute and Spear Education where she received advanced training in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, TMJ therapy, and occlusal disease. In addition to these institutes, she has hundreds of hours of continuing education in all areas of dentistry. She is a member of the Metro Study Club, American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association, and the Oklahoma County Dental Society. For the past 7 years she has been the adopt-a-dentist for Horace Mann School helping to provide dental education to all children and dental care with the mobile dental van for the underprivileged. She is deeply involved with her dental community as well as the family’s neighborhood and school.
Katherine and her husband, Dan, live in Oklahoma City and have three children that are the joy of their lives. They also have a dog and +/- 5 fish.
